Today, Apple released so-called Rapid Security Response updates for the latest versions of iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS. Apple explains that these patches “are a new type of software release for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. They deliver important security improvements between software updates.”
Note, these releases are not displayed on Apple’s regular security updates page here but rather explained on a dedicated page here.

Apple adds, “When a Rapid Security Response has been applied, a letter appears after the software version number, as in this example: macOS 13.3.1 (a).
